The excitement of a silent and live auction raised thousands of dollars to sponsor programs and community involvements for The Arc’s Shooting Stars Self Advocates, a group of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that organize through and meet at The Arc of Sedgwick County. The Self Advocates allow a forum for support, education, engagement and outreach to make sure that any local adult with special needs has a place to turn for help. Money raised at the event allows the Self Advocates to hold weekly educational and social events and to give money and support to individuals, groups and causes throughout the local developmental disability community.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Self Advocates! We hope to see you again next April!
We received wonderful comments about the addition of a party tent between the two buildings that gave us more room for the food buffet, chocolate fountain, margarita and beer stations, and the special silent auction. A big thank you to our Friends of The Arc committee for the decorations that added to the ambiance.
A special thank you to the many businesses who donated items for the auction in addition to the hundreds of memorabilia that we received from celebrities across the nation!
THANK YOU to our Tent Sponsors who covered the tent expense so that all funds raised could go directly to programs! Wilco, Inc. Sharpline Converting Kiwanis International
And thank you to WSU for donating a Final Four autographed basketball that set a new record for dollars raised!
